Java Jazz Festival is the 3rd largest jazz festival in the world. Blending tradition and jazz music seamlessly, its groove inspired me to translate these musical notes into a visual language that resonates with jazz enthusiasts.

Drawing from the progressive era of jazz, the style of the music guides the experience. I want viewers to enjoy and live the music through every touchpoint—the books they read, the screens they watch, and the details woven into every aspect of this event.

By bridging the history of jazz with Indonesia's traditional musical heritage, The Java Jazz visual system creates a lasting bond through.

The logo

The color represents the progressive jazz era that also helps to categorize the performers.

The origin of the graphic element

comes from the form inspired by the Indonesian traditional music instruments and Jazz Music instruments.

From the headliners to the audience, The bigger picture of the event has forever been highlighting the upcoming artist that is planned to perform at the event soon.

Displaying the the artist with a eccentric style will help deliver the feel of jazz even more, nothing that the micro identity which is the workshops hosted for the audience registered will connects both concepts for the same mission.

From the eyes to the prints, This part of the project explores on how the event will be represented in a print format. Including booklets, wristband tickets, to the envelopes that serves as an official colateral for the business side of things.

Social media and the social clicks

Moving on from print to screen, Java jazz needed a push on how their audience can interact with the heap amount of information they have. This way, people can access live information, buy official merchandise, and eventually check their artist's perfomance time.

For the crews, the magic makers of the show.

We all miss the details that make an event great. They sometimes come from the people who worked hard to make the idea happen and how it became what you're seeing on stage. In this part of the exploration, I wanted to highlight the people behind the scenes and what I can do to make them pop out even more in the event and show how each team can work together

Spatial Activation

A concept rooted in the music making process that connects the keyboard to the color and graphic assigned to it when they play. Including the musicians to create their own stage graphics.
